Join international master teacher and yoga educator Rocky Heron Heron for a fun and transformational weekend of Skill and Drills for yogis.

As our understanding of yoga technology and movement science continues to evolve, we must likewise evolve our practice along with it! Skills and Drills trainings and practice immersions are aimed at cracking open the box of traditional asana to explore interdisciplinary and diverse styles of movement. A healthy body is one that can function and thrive throughout a wide array of variables, and while traditional asana practice may be rich in what they offer, there is an infinite world of movement to explore.

Come increase your understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, and human movement science while deepening your abilities around the yoga practice you know and love.

Spinal Awakening

Our movement journey begins along our axis, where we will explore and connect elements of our developmental patterns with our ongoing endeavor to sustain and adapt to diverse movement possibilities.

A liberated spine is a healthy spine. A healthy spine makes for a strong and resilient body. Bring more of your awareness online through the central core of your being and reap the multitude of benefits.
This class will journey through an innovative and nourishing sequence that retraces the evolution of our spine and reignites our core to sustain intelligent and liberated movements in all directions.

All levels willing to play, explore, and try new things are welcome.

Saturday, June 27, 2020 | 13.00 – 16.00 h
Bandha Bounce

What are the bandhas and how do they relate to our natural, healthy movement patterns? In this session we will revisit developmental movement patterns that form the basis for all of our yoga poses, transitions, and abilities to transmit force in strong and intelligent ways.

This journey will explore our bodies potential for plyometrics; using the earth as our trampoline to leverage downward force into upward levity. When we couple this with our understanding of yoga technology, we can find an efficient and functional awakening of our bandhas (energy locks) that will render our spine and entire myofascial network strong, elastic, and resilient.
This dynamic and informative class will include a wide range of asanas and movements, including sun salutations, forword bends, handstand, and backbends.

Options will be available for all levels but warning, breakthroughs may occur.

Understanding the dynamic possibilities of these regions of your body will unlock greater freedom in a wide range of standing, and seated postures, as well as your capacity to transition creatively through these asanas with ease and stability.

Awaken the circuitry and intelligence of your lower limbs and accomplish greater freedom in your FUNnctional ranges of motion.

Sunday, June 28, 2020 | 13.00 – 16.00 h
Backbend Floss and Release

Do you desire a more confident, stable and liberated experience in your body while backbending? It may not be facilitated in the ways you’ve come to expect. In this session we will explore innovative drills to mobilize and activate your shoulder girdle and thoracic spine.

This class will begin with focused self myofascial release techniques, followed by powerful conditioning drills to awaken the levers and pulleys needed to lengthen and extend your spine. We know it’s a good idea to floss our teeth, but what about flossing our hips and shoulders to gain greater access to the fluidity of our spine? A clever use of props in familiar poses will help us access those hard to reach places that may be hindering our success.

The class will culminate in a series of intermediate backbends, making use of the freedom and strength cultivated through this rich and effective series of diverse mobility techniques. Open to all levels.
